Michael Carter

With a BA (Honours) from Queen's University, and an MA from the University of Toronto, Michael Carter is currently a PhD candidate at Queen's focused on surveillance and security practices in ‘smart cities’. His research critically examines the policies, practices and partnerships featured in the smart city movement. Michael is the lead graduate researcher on a five year SSHRC funded project led by Dr. David Murakami Wood (with collaborators at the University of North Carolina and Newcastle University), which is comparing surveillance and security practices in smart cities in Canada, the USA and the UK.
