The Digital Sublime won the 2005 Gary A. Olson Award for the best book published on rhetoric and cultural studies. The award is sponsored by JAC, a peer-reviewed journal based in the United States which publishes articles on a variety of topics related to rhetoric, discourse, and culture. The journal makes one award for best book each year which is announced at the annual convention of the College Composition and Communication Conference, a professional organization for university professors of English in the United States.
